Casa Iguanas is a private residence on the Pacific coast of Puerto Vallarta, designed by Bernal Architecture Studio around a single idea: let the site do the talking. Four bedrooms, a linear pool, and a sequence of covered outdoor rooms are organized along one axis, oriented to the horizon and shaded from the coastal sun.
The house is built from a restrained material palette: hand-set stone, board-formed concrete, reclaimed wood, and blackened steel. Each material is left as close to its raw state as possible, allowing texture and weathering to register over time rather than being designed away.
A cantilevered steel-and-timber canopy runs the length of the pool terrace, blurring the line between interior and exterior living. Sliding glass walls fold back completely, opening the main living space to the pool deck and the garden beyond. Stone cladding, sourced regionally, grounds the volume against the surrounding palms and carries the same warmth through to the entry sequence.
Upstairs, four bedrooms are arranged for cross-ventilation and privacy, each opening onto its own terrace. The plan favors long, unbroken sightlines over enclosed rooms — a house designed to be experienced in motion, from the street-facing stone wall at the entry to the open pool pavilion at the rear.
